SchoolMessenger - Contact Manager Information
In an ongoing effort to improve communication with families, our school district introduced the SchoolMessenger Notification System to provide efficient communication to parents and staff members on matters such as attendance issues, emergency early dismissals, Digital Backpack, and last minute cancellations. In order to enhance our ability to accurately deliver such information, you will now be able to create and manage your own account and profile online in SchoolMessenger using the Contact Manager feature. With this new feature, you will be able to choose which phone numbers and email addresses you would like to have utilized for notifications (from the numbers and email addresses that we have on file for your student in PowerSchool).
You can log in to your account at anytime to make changes or to view/hear messages that you may have missed when they were first sent out via SchoolMessenger. All you will need is your email address and the password that you created during step two of the instructions.
Text (SMS) Message Alerts:
As parents have expressed that they do not wish to receive early morning phone calls, effective immediately we will be able to send text message alerts. By utilizing our text messaging services, through SchoolMessenger, we will be able to provide parents with delayed opening and cancellation notifications. We will still continue to call you, however, for unscheduled early dismissals
. In order to receive a text message, you MUST set-up your Contact Manager account and sign your cell phone(s) up to receive text (SMS) messages. Please make sure to have your letter available with your child’s activation code and ID number when setting-up your account. The number that you will receive the text message from is 68453. Simply save that in your contacts and you will always know that it is Colchester Schools sending you a text message. To Update Contact Information:
Please remember that if an email address or phone number needs to be changed please send that information, in writing, to your child’s school. You will receive a phone call confirmation. We will update PowerSchool, which will then automatically update SchoolMessenger within 24 hours. For assistance please contact Dawn Shea at 860-537-7267.
