Karen Loiselle Goodwin
The Colchester Board of Education voted at a special meeting on May 22, 2017 to appoint Karen Loiselle Goodwin interim superintendent, following Superintendent Jeffry Mathieu's retirement.
The board named Karen Loiselle Goodwin, who served as Colchester’s superintendent of schools from 2004 to 2012. Before becoming Colchester’s superintendent in 2004, Loiselle Goodwin served as the schools’ curriculum director and, prior to that, as principal of Colchester Intermediate School.
“I am honored to provide support and leadership to Colchester during this transitional period,” Loiselle Goodwin said in a prepared statement. “I look forward to working with the board and administrative team to serve the students and staff of this special school community.”
Loiselle Goodwin has 36 years of experience in education, including as the leader of the town’s public schools for eight years.
“From her many years here, we all know of Karen’s talents and passion for students,” BOE Chairman Ronald Goldstein said in a press release. “In looking for and choosing an interim superintendent, the board wanted to be sure to have someone who will continue to move us forward. We have no doubt Karen will do that, especially given her familiarity with us. We were happy to learn she would be willing to lead us during the interim period until we select our new permanent superintendent.”
