The Colchester Board of Education members voted on September 12, 2017 to appoint interim superintendent Dr. Mary Conway to lead the Colchester public school district until a permanent superintendent is selected.
Dr. Conway has 29 years of experience in education and has served as the superintendent of Plainfield Public Schools from 2000 to 2010 before being hired as the superintendent of Vernon Public Schools. After retiring from that position two years ago, Conway was appointed interim superintendent for Brooklyn Public Schools from September 2016 through June 2017. She also is an instructor at the University of Connecticut.
“We were very impressed with Dr. Conway’s experience and obvious expertise,” said former school board Chairman Ronald Goldstein in a prepared statement. “We are confident that she will provide effective leadership as we continue our search for our permanent leader.”
Former interim superintendent, Karen Loiselle Goodwin, who was appointed by board members in May, 2017, completed her tenure on Dec. 31, 2017.
