In the past several months there have been new additions to Colchester Public Schools (CPS) and some departures. The Board of Education would like to take a moment to welcome our new additions while wishing those who have departed CPS well to pursue new opportunities.

The Board would like to extend a warm welcome to Rachel Linkkila, the new Business Director for the district. The retirement of Maggie Cosgrove, CFO of the town, enabled the district to restructure the business department to create a Business Director’s position which is 100% dedicated to serving the needs and interests of the schools. Rachel is a great fit and the Board is thrilled to have her on board. We wish Maggie Cosgrove well in her retirement!

The Board would also like to thank Glenn McGrath for taking on the role of the Interim Director of Pupil Services and Special Education. Mr. McGrath is devoted to our special education students and has begun the necessary positive changes in the department. Mr. McGrath’s vast experience in the field of special education was greatly appreciated in the development and implementation of the search process for a new Director of Pupil Services and Special Education. Thank you, Glenn, for all you have done for the district and for our students.

Additionally, the Board would like to extend a warm welcome to Amy Emory who is stepping into the role of Director of Pupil Services and Special Education. Amy possesses an extensive background in special education, her enthusiasm and devotion to special education students is a terrific fit for CPS. Welcome Mrs. Emory!

Upon Dr. McDowell’s recommendation for a structural change in Central Office, the Board would like to offer its congratulations to Dr. Charles Hewes on his appointment as Assistant Superintendent. We look forward to working with Dr. Hewes in his new role.

The Board would like to thank Jessica Morozowich for her years of service to CPS as a member of the Board of Education. Jessica’s dedication and devotion to our schools and students will be missed and we wish her well!

The Board would like to wish Matthew Peel the best of luck in his future endeavors. In his seven (7) years Mr. Peel has shown his love for Bacon Academy and his enthusiasm and dedication is appreciated by the Board. He will be missed by many in the community.

The Board of Education is dedicated to moving CPS forward for the benefit of all students, families, administrators, faculty, and staff.

Lastly, thank you to everyone in our community for your support of our students and schools, and to Dr. McDowell for his expertise and dedication to our schools.
