English Language Learners

Students new to our district who speak other languages are assisted in each building according to a detailed English Language Learner Program.  This program will be revised in 2016-17, with new LAS testing and the elimination of the CMT for exiting purposes.

Parents who are enrolling new students in our schools are asked to complete a Language Assessment Form, which helps to determine if a bilingual education program or ELL services are needed.

The district English Language Learner teacher is Louise Gauthier; her office is located at Colchester Elementary School.  Erin Mucciaciaro is the tutor servicing students at Jack Jackter Intermediate.

You may want to visit  Reading Rockets for parent tips on literacy in English.

Another good place to visit for help learning English  is  this website!

Tips for parents are here, and this site has lots of good information for teachers, students and parents, alike!
