Bacon Academy Jazz Band Wins First Place at Berklee
The Bacon Academy Jazz Band, led by Band Director Thomas Kessler, earned first place honors at the 51st Annual Berklee College of Music High School Jazz Festival held in Boston on Saturday, January 26th. The Band placed first in a division of 15 schools with similar school populations. Noted solo performances were played by Dylan Rosenthal on Guitar and Clarinet, Annie Hageman on Trumpet, Conor McCourt and Liz Ladegard on Trombone, Kyle Krystofik and Matt Kranc on Sax, Ethan Puetzer on Drums and Sarah Praisner on Piano. Also performing were Abby Levine, Ethan Moores, Jon Mieszkowicz on Trumpet, Michael Isleib, Taryn Formanek and Emery Lewis on Saxophones, Katelyn Ashe & Delaney Lima on Bass and Austin Brown on Percussion and Drum set. The festival was held at the Hynes Auditorium and was the 30th Bacon Academy appearance in which Mr. Kessler has led the band in all thirty.
In addition, the Combo, received an Honorable Mention for their performance.
Mr. Kessler and his student band members were invited to perform at the Board of Education meeting on Tuesday, February 12. They will also be recognized for their achievement.
