Gifted and Talented Identification

Students in Colchester who may be gifted and talented are referred, evaluated, and identified.  Parents or teachers may refer a child at any time using the form provided below. 

While a child could be referred and identified earlier, our screening process begins at the end of grade 2, with parent, teacher, or other referrals, followed by screening and parent permission to evaluate.  Our process includes the use of parent and teacher inventories, the Naglieri  Non-verbal Ability Test, and the Torrence Figural Test of Creative Thinking.

Our philosophy, the Schoolwide Enrichment Model, reflects our belief that we should challenge all learners to work at their highest capacity.  Gifted students, as all students, are provided with opportunities to extend their learning and participate in a wide array of opportunities in the Colchester Public Schools.
