Five percent of all school-age children miss school due to an anxiety-related disorder every day. Children who exhibit school refusal behaviors often do so to avoid or escape anxiety provoking situations; still others refuse to attend school to pursue attention from significant others or to seek out tangible reinforcers. Colchester’s School Resilience Program addresses the unique academic, social, and emotional needs of students with anxiety disorders by providing in-home and school-based academic and clinical supports for students and their families.
