On Friday, we proudly hosted our schoolwide Day of Service. Throughout the day, students engaged in lessons centered on kindness, empathy, and the importance of using words to uplift others. These conversations were paired with authentic service opportunities, allowing students to put their learning into action.
As part of our efforts to support the Colchester community, students donated items to create “Blessing Bags” for homebound residents. We partnered with the Colchester Senior Center, who will distribute these bags to local residents in need. This initiative provided students with a tangible way to give back while fostering a sense of connection across generations.
We were also fortunate to collaborate with several local organizations that led engaging, hands-on learning experiences for our students. These partnerships helped broaden students’ understanding of service in a variety of contexts. Participating organizations included:
- Colchester is Kind
- Colchester Fire and EMS
- Colchester Giving Garden
- Connecticut Humane Society
- Department of Energy and Environmental Protection (DEEP)
- Litter Awareness LLC
- United Way
- Colchester Youth Center
The Day of Service was a powerful example of how we continue to build a culture of compassion, responsibility, and community engagement at Jackter. We are grateful for the support of our community partners and proud of our students for their enthusiasm and commitment to making a positive difference.
