Message from the Principal
It is hard to believe that we are approaching the end of the school year! The air is filled with pride for all that we have accomplished together this year. It has been a remarkable year for our students in academics and athletics coming to culmination as we announced the class of 2024's Valedictorian, Carolyn Baehr and Salutatorian, Abigail Belding! We are extremely busy planning for graduation cannot wait to see our seniors take the next, very big, step in their lives.
Celebrations have not just been for students! I would like to thank Student Council for outdoing themselves for Teacher Appreciation Week. Myself, Mr. Mal and Mrs. Cyr also had a great time passing out treats to our amazing staff. Our teachers and staff are the backbone of our school and their unwavering commitment to our students' success is truly commendable.
On Wednesday, May 15 we celebrated Founders Day. The event, in conjunction with Bacon Academy Board of Trustees was held at the Colchester Federated Church to honor the founding of Bacon Academy by Pierpoint Bacon in 1803. The event included music selections by our own Chamber Choir, under the direction of Marinne Cheney.
Just as this edition goes to print, we celebrate our Bacon Academy robotics team, the Robocats, who just won a State Championship on Sunday 5/19! Congratulations to all the team members and mentors who worked incredibly hard this season!
While we celebrate past and present achievements we still have some work to do! Please find our FINAL EXAM SCHEDULE HERE. If your student has not done so yet, please return the signed permission slip to be dismissed after the completion of the day's exams. Students who do not submit a permission form for dismissal will be expected to attend study halls each afternoon. In preparation for final exams and for the end 4th quarter, students should still be ON TIME and PRESENT to school in order to finish the school year strong! Wishing you all a great end to the school year and a relaxing summer!
Best, Mrs. Begue

Parting is such sweet sorrow- Happy Retirement Mr. Williams
After 36 years, we say farewell to Dave Williams. Mr. Williams began his career here at Bacon Academy as a freshman English teacher where he has since taught Senior English, AP English and most famously, Creative Writing. Creative Writing became one of Mr. William's favorite classes to teach, in part because students who might never have interacted otherwise, came to respect, support and appreciate one another. Some of his favorite memories are of the many trips taking students to plays at the Hartford Stage. Every year he also enjoyed having students act out numerous scripts and Shakespeare plays, and seeing the courage and creativity students displayed with their performances. Mr. Williams always found a way to connect with his students. He believes that, "In school, what you teach is not always as important as connecting with students and encouraging students to connect with one another, maybe not more than ever."
During retirement, Mr. Williams plans to read, trave, spend time with his first grandchild and keep up his love of acting and birding. We wish you the best!
